The Steelmate DVR Mini 0805P (driving video recorder/dashcam) is an affordable 2304x1296p 30fps forward facing plug & play system designed for any vehicle.
The Steelmate DVR Mini 0805P (driving video recorder/dashcam) is an affordable 2304x1296p 30fps forward facing plug & play system designed for any vehicle. It is a simple and effective camera system with the ability to capture high quality video and GPS data including vehicle speed and location while driving.
The Steelmate DVR Mini 0805P (driving video recorder/dashcam) can be fitted to just about any vehicle in around 10 minutes. Once the camera receives power from the vehicle’s accessory power socket it turns on and starts recording both video and audio (if enabled) on a constant loop, overwriting the oldest video files present on the micro SD card, (not included), with recently created ones. The system has an adjustable G sensor which stops important video files being overwritten.
Video files created by the DVR Mini 0805P can be viewed on any computer using its standard video player. The DVR video footage and associated GPS data can be viewed together using the downloadable Windows XP or later compatible system software.
The camera measures 70mm wide, 40mm high and is just 35mm deep, and comes with a 3.3m long cigarette plug power cable.
The DVR Mini 0805P has a built in mode called “Parking Guard”. When the DVR is installed using the optional hardwire / parking guard kit, the 0805P can record video when the vehicles engine is switched off meaning the DVR doubles up as a covert CCTV system, monitoring the area around the front of your vehicle while it is parked. The optional kit gets its power directly from the vehicles battery and re-activates normal recording mode when the vehicles ignition is switched on.
***Important Note Regarding Vehicle Battery Discharge
A battery discharge prevention device is sometimes advised, however this largely depends on 2 factors. The first being how often you drive your vehicle, If you drive it daily, a typical dash cam will not drain enough power from an average car battery for a problem to occur unless your journey’s are very short. Many people leave their vehicles for 2 or more days in parking mode without any problems with battery discharge. If you will not be driving your vehicle for a few days, you could always unplug or switch off your dash cam to prevent battery discharge.
The second factor is your car battery’s condition. If it is a newer battery in good condition, the dash cam will unlikely drain the battery for numerous days. If your battery is not in good condition and is old, you will likely need to replace it anyway and a battery discharge prevention device will just delay the inevitable battery replacement.
